Eligibility & Registration Requirements
To register as a rider on Smart Laundry Connect, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a resident of one of our active cities in Nigeria
- Own or have legal right to use a road-worthy vehicle (bicycle, motorcycle, car, or van)
- Hold a valid Nigerian ID document — NIN, Driver's Licence, International Passport, or Voter's Card
- Have an active Nigerian phone number for receiving job notifications
- Hold a valid Nigerian bank account for receiving weekly payouts
- Have access to a smartphone or mobile device capable of accessing our rider dashboard
Approval Process
After submitting your rider application, our team will review your identity document, vehicle details, and bank account information within 24 hours on business days. You will be notified by SMS and in-app notification of the outcome.
We assess applications based on: identity verification, vehicle roadworthiness (self-declared), bank account validity, and the availability of delivery capacity in your city. We reserve the right to limit rider approvals in over-served areas.
Smart Laundry Connect reserves the right to refuse any rider application at its sole discretion without being required to provide a reason. Refusal does not preclude re-application after 30 days with updated information.
We may ask you to re-submit verification documents periodically or if we suspect your documents have expired or become invalid. Failure to complete re-verification within 14 days will result in account suspension.
How Jobs Work
You control when you work. Toggle your availability status to Online in your rider dashboard to start receiving job notifications for orders in your city. Toggle to Offline at any time to stop receiving job requests.
When a job is available in your area, you will receive a notification showing: the customer pickup address, the store drop-off address, the services required, your earnings for that delivery, and estimated distance. You may accept or decline any job — there are no penalties for declining individual jobs.
Once you accept a job, you must complete the following steps and update the order status in your dashboard at each stage:
- Navigate to the customer's address to collect the laundry
- Confirm collection and update status to "Picked up"
- Deliver the laundry to the partner store
- Update status to "At store" upon drop-off
- Return to the store when the order is marked "Ready"
- Collect the clean laundry and update status to "Out for delivery"
- Deliver to the customer and confirm "Delivered"
Once you have accepted a job, you are expected to complete it. If you must cancel after acceptance, you must notify the platform immediately via the app. Repeated job cancellations (more than 3 in a rolling 7-day period) will result in a temporary performance warning and may affect your job priority ranking.
Rider Obligations
By accepting jobs on Smart Laundry Connect, you agree to always:
- Handle all garments with care during collection, transit, and delivery — they are the customer's personal property
- Keep laundry clean, dry, and protected from weather during transit
- Arrive at pickup and delivery addresses within the agreed time window
- Communicate promptly and professionally with customers and stores through the platform
- Update order status accurately and in real time at every step
- Carry your registered vehicle and ID documents when performing deliveries
- Maintain your vehicle in a roadworthy and clean condition
- Comply with all applicable Nigerian road traffic laws
- Not consume alcohol or controlled substances before or during deliveries
- Represent Smart Laundry Connect professionally in all customer interactions
Earnings & Payouts
Riders earn a share of the delivery fee charged to the customer for each completed delivery. The current earnings structure is:
| Vehicle type | Typical delivery fee | Your earnings (70%) |
|---|---|---|
| Bicycle | ₦560 – ₦680 | ₦392 – ₦476 |
| Motorcycle | ₦700 – ₦800 | ₦490 – ₦560 |
| Car | ₦750 – ₦850 | ₦525 – ₦595 |
| Van | ₦800 – ₦1,000 | ₦560 – ₦700 |
Delivery fee amounts may vary based on order size, distance, and city. The exact amount is shown before you accept each job.
Earnings are automatically transferred to your registered bank account every Friday via Paystack bank transfer. No action is required on your part — payouts are fully automated. Your earnings dashboard shows a real-time breakdown of pending and paid amounts.
A minimum accumulated balance of ₦500 must be reached before a payout is triggered. If your balance is below ₦500 on a Friday, it carries over to the following week.
Smart Laundry Connect is not liable for payout delays caused by: Paystack system downtime, your bank's processing times, incorrect bank account details provided by you, or payouts withheld pending fraud investigation. If you have not received a payout within 3 business days of the Friday processing date, contact [email protected].
Deductions & Penalties
The following deductions or penalties may be applied to your earnings:
| Situation | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Proven loss or theft of garment while in your care | Deduction of up to the assessed replacement value from pending earnings |
| Garment damaged due to proven rider negligence | Deduction of compensation amount from pending earnings |
| Fraudulent delivery confirmation (marking delivered without delivering) | Full order amount deducted; account suspension |
| Dispute found in customer's favour due to rider fault | Partial or full deduction of order's delivery fee |
Garment Liability
All garments in your possession during a delivery are your responsibility from the moment of collection until the moment of confirmed delivery. You must treat them as you would treat your own valuable clothing.
You are required to:
- Keep garments in the sealed bags or packaging provided by the store
- Protect garments from rain, dirt, and damage during transit
- Never leave garments unattended on your vehicle in a public place
- Not open or inspect garment bags except where required to verify contents with a customer
If you discover a garment is already damaged at the time of collection, you must immediately report this via the app and document it with a photo before proceeding. Failure to report pre-existing damage may result in you being held responsible.
Your maximum liability for any single item lost or damaged while in your care is ₦30,000 per item, subject to evidence that the loss or damage was directly caused by your negligence. Claims must be raised by the customer within 48 hours of delivery.
Insurance & Safety
Smart Laundry Connect does not provide personal accident, health, third-party liability, or vehicle insurance for riders. As an independent contractor, you are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining appropriate insurance coverage.
We strongly recommend that all riders obtain:
- Third-party motor vehicle insurance — required by Nigerian law for all motorised vehicles
- Comprehensive vehicle insurance covering commercial use
- Personal accident cover in case of injury while riding
You must comply with all Nigerian road traffic laws at all times, including wearing a helmet on a motorcycle, not using a handheld mobile phone while riding, obeying traffic signals, and maintaining appropriate speed. Any fines, penalties, or legal costs arising from traffic violations are your sole responsibility.
Ratings & Performance
Customers may rate your delivery out of 5 stars after each completed order. Your ratings are visible on your rider profile and are used to determine job priority. Riders with higher ratings receive earlier access to available jobs.
Smart Laundry Connect monitors the following performance indicators:
| Metric | Target | Below threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Average rating | 4.0★ or above | Performance review |
| Completion rate | 90%+ of accepted jobs | Job priority reduced |
| On-time rate | 85%+ delivered within window | Performance warning |
| Response time | Accept / decline within 3 min | Job offered to next rider |
Riders falling below performance thresholds will be notified and given a 14-day improvement period. Continued underperformance after the improvement period may result in account suspension or termination.
Prohibited Conduct
The following actions are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination:
- Stealing, opening, or tampering with any customer's garments or laundry bags
- Marking an order as "Delivered" without completing the delivery
- Collecting payment directly from customers outside the platform
- Sharing your account credentials with any other person
- Allowing another person to perform deliveries under your account
- Creating multiple rider accounts
- Providing false information during registration or re-verification
- Soliciting customers or stores to transact off-platform
- Harassing, threatening, or assaulting customers, store owners, or Smart Laundry Connect staff
- Performing deliveries while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Using the platform in any way that violates Nigerian law
Dispute Resolution
If a customer raises a complaint against you — regarding missing items, damage, late delivery, or conduct — our support team will:
- Notify you of the complaint within 24 hours
- Give you 48 hours to respond with your account of events
- Review all available evidence including order status logs, timestamps, and any photos
- Issue a decision within 5 business days
If you disagree with the outcome of a dispute, you may appeal by emailing [email protected] within 7 days of the decision. Appeals are reviewed by a senior team member not involved in the original decision.
If you remain dissatisfied after the appeal, you may escalate to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) or seek resolution through appropriate Nigerian courts. See the General Terms (Section 12) for arbitration provisions.
Suspension & Termination
Smart Laundry Connect may suspend your account temporarily — preventing you from accepting new jobs — while a complaint or investigation is ongoing. Suspension does not constitute termination, and pending earnings are not forfeited during a suspension unless fraud is subsequently proven.
We may permanently terminate your rider account:
- Immediately for serious misconduct including theft, assault, fraud, or multiple serious violations
- With 14 days' notice for persistent underperformance or non-serious policy violations
- Immediately if you provide false identity or vehicle information
You may close your rider account at any time by contacting [email protected]. Any active jobs at the time of closure must be completed or transferred before the account can be closed. Outstanding earnings will be paid on the next scheduled Friday payout date.
Upon termination for reasons other than fraud or serious misconduct, any outstanding earnings will be paid within the next payout cycle. In cases of proven fraud or theft, Smart Laundry Connect reserves the right to withhold earnings pending recovery of losses.
Data & Privacy
Smart Laundry Connect collects and processes your personal data — including name, phone number, location, bank details, and ID documents — to operate the rider programme. This data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
By registering as a rider, you consent to:
- Your real-time location being shared with customers and stores during active deliveries
- Your name, phone number, and rating being visible to customers during a delivery
- Your bank account details being shared with Paystack for payout processing
- Your performance data being used to determine job allocation and platform status
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Your data is retained for the duration of your account plus a reasonable period required by Nigerian law. You may request data deletion by emailing [email protected].
Changes to These Terms
Smart Laundry Connect may update these Rider Terms from time to time. When material changes are made, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Send an in-app notification to all active riders
- Send an SMS to your registered phone number for significant changes
Your continued use of the platform and acceptance of delivery jobs after the updated effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree to updated terms, you must stop accepting jobs and close your rider account.
